What do garlic and glutathione have in common? Sulfur! Sulfur is commonly used in Asia as an herbal medicine to treat inflammation and cancer. Organic sulfur has been studied on oral and other cancers and has been found to have remarkable benefit in anti-cancer therapy.[1]
Sulfur is an essential element for all life, and is widely used in biochemical processes. Sulfur is required for the proper structure and biological activity of enzymes. If you don’t have sufficient amounts of sulfur in your body, the enzymes cannot function properly. This can cascade into a number of health problems since, without biologically-active enzymes, your metabolic processes cannot function properly.
Sulfur enables the transport of oxygen across cell membranes.
Because sulfur is directly below oxygen in the periodic table, these elements have similar electron configurations. Mercury, in its various forms, has a great attraction to the sulfhydryls or thiols—these sulfa bonds. A thiol is any organic compound containing a univalent radical called a sulfhydryl and identified by the symbol -SH (sulfur-hydrogen).
Enzymes are proteins, and like all proteins they consist of chains of amino acids. These chains have to be faulted in a specific way to give the enzyme its activity. The structure of many enzymes is ensured by cross-bonding of the amino-acid chains. These cross-bonds consist of double sulfur bonds. Sulfur bridges are covalent S-S bonds between two cysteine amino acids, which tend to be quite strong. These sulfur bonds are damaged when poisonous substances that are not naturally present are added to the cellular and blood environments. Mercury binds to the -SH (sulfhydryl) groups, resulting in inactivation of sulfur and blocking of enzyme functions while producing sulfur metabolites with high toxicity that the body has difficulty handling. Sulfur is essential in enzymes, hormones, nerve tissue and red blood cells. These sulfur bonds are crucial to human biology.

Various molecules or atoms will affect the rate of an enzyme-catalyzed reaction by binding to the enzyme. Some bind at the same site as the substrate (the active site) and prevent the substrate from binding. Others bind at sites on the enzyme remote from the active site and affect activity by modifying the shape of the enzyme. Many of these molecules reduce the activity of the enzyme and are referred to as inhibitors.
Mercury is the most potent enzyme inhibitor that exists; it is in a class of its own and well deserves its title as the most toxic non-radioactive element. Since mercury and lead attach themselves at these highly vulnerable junctures of proteins, they can readily provoke biochemical shifts and then morphological changes in the body. Transsulfuration pathways in the body are fundamental for life. When mercury blocks thiol groups, cellular proteins lose their reactive properties and lose their ability to carry out their routine function.
Because glycemic regulation is one of the body’s most central homeostatic mechanisms, mercury’s attack is most problematic, even at low concentrations, and indicates that it is playing a great role in the dramatic rise of diabetes.
Insulin has three sulfur-containing cross-linkages and the insulin receptor has a tyrosine-kinase-containing sulfur bond; these are the preferred targets for binding by both mercury and lead. Should mercury attach to one of these three sulfur bonds, it will interfere with the normal biological function of the insulin molecule. The average adult inhales thousands of trillions of mercury atoms a day from a mouthful of amalgams; fish provides trillions more, the air more, and in children, vaccines provide surges of trillions of mercury molecules per day in the form of ethyl-mercury, which is vastly more toxic than metallic mercury. Insulin molecules are directly assaulted as are insulin receptor sites.
We are all receiving, just through our air, water and food, about a microgram of mercury a day. Sounds like very little until you calculate that a microgram contains 3,000 trillion atoms each of which hold the potential to deactivate insulin and the receptor sites crucial to their function. Then you have to add the amount leaking from each of your dental amalgams, the mercury injected with your flu shot, and your proximity to a coal-fired plant or other mercury-contaminating source point like crematoriums and municipal incinerators.
Sulfur is present in all proteins, which makes it universally available throughout the body for binding with mercury. Some of the important biochemical sulfur-containing compounds of the body besides insulin are glutathione, prolactin, growth hormone, and vasopressin.
The bottom line is that no other element including oxygen has more of an ability to combine with other elements than sulfur. All the metals except gold and platinum combine with sulfur to form inorganic sulfides. Sulfur combines with aluminum to form aluminum sulfate, it combines with barium to form barium sulfate, and it combines with strontium to form strontium sulfate.

The generation and maintenance of all our body processes are supported by four basic life-support components: carbohydrates, water, proteins and energy. In fact, the air itself is becoming more and more polluted, making oxygen extraction more difficult for our life-support. Physiologists understand that breathing polluted air, or breathing air that contains less oxygen, puts tremendous stress on the human body. Surprisingly, paleontologists have analyzed the oxygen in air bubbles trapped in fossilized amber from the Jurassic Era. Their research revealed that the oxygen levels were significantly higher then than they are today. In fact, many scientists now believe that the dinosaurs became extinct because of a rapid drop in oxygen and the inability of their respiratory systems to adapt to this oxygen reduction. If the dinosaurs became extinct because they could not obtain enough oxygen, is it any wonder that our bodies can suffer as well as our oxygen supplies are depleted due to pollution?
The diet's role in oxygen shortages and life-support.
Eating junk food on a regular basis forces the body to use up more of its oxygen reserves than usual in order to metabolize the preservatives and what few nutrients may actually be in the "food". Complex carbohydrates and raw fruits and vegetables are high in oxygen with as much as 50% of the weight of these foods made up of oxygen. The percentage of oxygen in fats is less than 15% while the percentage of oxygen in protein is between 20% and 40%, depending on the protein's amino acid profile. Dense food compounds, such as fats and proteins, are not only low in oxygen content, but also require extra oxygen from the body to convert them into energy which further depletes the body's oxygen reserves. Other oxygen-robbing foods include processed sugar, white flour, alcohol and caffeinated drinks — definitely not part of a life-support diet. The body has to divert needed oxygen from primary metabolic functions, such as heartbeat, blood flow, brain function and immune response, just to oxidize and metabolize these foods.
Stress and oxygen.
Any excessive stress, including a heavy workload, traumatic or intense events in your life, prolonged depression and anxiety, can rob the body of huge amounts of its much-needed oxygen. Emotional stress produces adrenaline and adrenaline-related hormones, requiring the body to draw on its oxygen reserves for their production and eventual oxidation. Infection also depletes the body's oxygen, which is used to combat bacteria.
Acidity and oxygen reserves.
Individuals with chronically acidic systems also use up oxygen reserves. This can lead to a cycle of toxin accumulation and oxygen depletion. One way in which the body combats excess acidity is by trying to neutralize it with oxygen. To do so, it must continually divert oxygen away from its primary metabolic functions and direct it toward the acidic cells and tissues.
Oxygen shortages and infection.
When body oxygen falls to extremely low levels for prolonged periods of time, the body may become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites and other infectious agents. Most of these are anaerobic, meaning they cannot live in an oxygen-rich environment. Some research indicates that when the oxygen content of the body is within a normal level, infectious microorganisms have a more difficult time breeding and multiplying. The partial pressure of oxygen in normal blood should be approximately 97%. Within each red blood cell are iron-rich hemoglobin molecules. Approximately 97% of the oxygen carried to the cells is attached to these hemoglobin molecules with 3% of the oxygen supply dissolved in the blood plasma. When your blood oxygen levels remain low for extended periods of time, the cells cannot get an adequate and consistent supply of oxygen and they may have difficulty resisting the invasion of microorganisms — lessening your natural life-support.
Lack of exercise.
The body responds to exercise by increasing oxygen intake by breathing hard and deeper. This increase in blood oxygen levels helps the body perform two very important functions. First, the additional oxygen permits the creation and release of more energy for the exercise. Second, the increased supply of oxygen is utilized by the body to remove by-product wastes that are the result of a higher metabolic rate. CDC now recommends

As of August 2012, the CDC now recommends one-time hepatitis C testing for all baby boomers—the generation born between 1945 and 1965. Hepatitis C (HCV) is prevalent among this demographic, yet the majority of those are unaware of their infection. A single hepatitis C test can diagnose this virus and enable treatment to take place.

How Hepatitis C is Transmitted

Hepatitis C can go undiagnosed for decades making it difficult to pinpoint when or how the virus was contracted. The most common means of transmission include the following:
  • Current or past intravenous drug use or from blood transfusions. 
  • Organ transplants or blood transfusions prior to routine screening of blood supply and organ donors in 1992.
Less common means of transmission include:
  • Sharing contaminated personal items, such as razors or toothbrushes.
  • Vaginal or anal sexual intercourse, particularly sex that involves trauma, i.e. rough sex, rape or sexual abuse. (Oral transmission has not been documented.)
  • Neonatal transmission from an infected mother to her child.

Scary stuff. They say between 1945 and 1965, I would increase that into the 80's. It was not discovered until 1989 when they came out with a test for it. But lets look at this. We all carry some sort of bacteria or virus within us. However if you eat properly and take care of yourself those pathogens will just lay dormant and the immune system will do what it was designed to do, go after them and destroy them. However if your cells lack oxygen bacteria and viruses find a home and do their damage. FLOOD your body with oxygen and keep those viruses and bacteria in check. A cell that is strong with oxygen can not be invaded. A cell that lacks 60% oxygen becomes cancerous and will also allow a virus to multiply.

Is MSM safe for someone with Hepatitis C?

this is a one handed comment.
Regarding the liver, hepatitis C or not. The liver is the primary organ for cleaning our blood, it like the pancreas are dependent on sulfur based amino acids and the protein they
comprise to regenerate the "filtering" cells. MSM is organic sulfur not a miracle medication.
HEP C is a viral disease and lest I ever get tired saying this "no virus can replicate in cells with adequate intracellular oxygen." Therefore there are two reasons to take MSM, one to provide the sulfur to allow liver regeneration especially those cells destroyed by the Hep C virus, and two intracellular oxygen to force the virus into dormancy. Mark slowly increase your MSM intake to 6 to 8 grams every 5 hours, your initial 'side effects' was you body detoxifying. No drug of "white mans" medicine can do more for your Hep C than sulfur and oxygen. It is impossible to overdose with MSM, everyone I have attempted to overdose is just healthier.
